Boulder Opals are natural opals found mainly in Queensland Australia. The opal layer in boulder opal has an ironstone backing which is naturally attached to the stone making boulder opals harder and stronger than other opals.

Originally found in the state of Paraiba, Brazil in 1989 Paraiba tourmalines are also found in Nigeria and Mozambique. Paraiba colours vary from an extraordinary intense, neon blue to greenish blue and violet, dependant on the amount of manganese or copper contained in the stone.
