Fine jewellery is made to be worn and enjoyed every day, but a little care will help preserve its beauty for years to come.

We recommend removing your jewellery before activities where it may be exposed to knocks, chemicals or excessive pressure.

Jewellery Care

Gold

Our jewellery is crafted using high-quality precious metals including 9ct, 14ct and 18ct gold.

Gold is naturally durable but can still become scratched through everyday wear.

To care for your gold jewellery:

  • Remove before heavy lifting or manual work.

  • Avoid contact with harsh chemicals.

  • Apply perfume, sunscreen and skincare products before putting on your jewellery.

  • Clean occasionally using warm water, mild soap and a soft brush.

Diamond Care

Diamonds are among the hardest natural materials, but they still require care.

Lotions, soaps and oils can build up behind the stone, reducing its sparkle.

To restore brilliance:

  • Soak in warm water with mild soap.

  • Gently clean behind the stone using a soft toothbrush.

  • Dry with a lint-free cloth.

Pearl Care

Pearls are beautifully delicate and require extra attention.

Always put pearl jewellery on last, after applying perfume, hairspray or cosmetics.

After wearing, gently wipe pearls with a soft cloth before storing separately.

Never immerse pearls in jewellery cleaning solutions.

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver naturally oxidises over time when exposed to air, moisture and everyday pollutants. This is a normal characteristic of the metal.

To keep your silver jewellery looking its best:

  • Polish gently using a soft silver polishing cloth.

  • Store in a dry place when not being worn.

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to water and humidity.

  • Remove before swimming or showering.

  • Keep away from perfumes, lotions and household cleaning products.

Interestingly, wearing sterling silver regularly can actually help reduce tarnishing, as natural movement helps keep the surface bright.

Platinum

Platinum is an exceptionally durable precious metal.

Over time it develops a soft natural patina which many people consider part of its beauty.

Unlike plated metals, platinum does not lose its colour and can be professionally polished whenever desired.

We will work with platinum upon request.

Coloured Gemstones

Every gemstone has its own unique characteristics.

Although many precious gemstones are suitable for everyday wear, they should still be protected from hard knocks and sudden impacts.

Avoid exposing gemstones to:

  • Extreme heat

  • Sudden temperature changes

  • Household chemicals

  • Ultrasonic cleaners unless professionally advised

If your jewellery features aquamarine, sapphire, emerald or other coloured gemstones, gentle hand cleaning is always recommended.

Everyday Wear

Although designed to be enjoyed every day, we recommend removing your jewellery before:

  • Swimming in pools or the sea

  • Showering

  • Exercising

  • Gardening

  • Heavy lifting

  • Cleaning

  • DIY

  • Sleeping

Chlorine, saltwater and abrasive surfaces can all affect precious metals and gemstones over time.

Cleaning Your Jewellery

Regular cleaning helps maintain your jewellery's natural brilliance.

We recommend:

  • Warm water

  • Mild washing-up liquid

  • A soft toothbrush

  • A lint-free polishing cloth

Avoid abrasive cleaners, bleach and harsh chemicals.

If you're ever unsure about cleaning a particular gemstone, please contact us before attempting to clean it.

Storage

When not being worn, jewellery should be stored individually to help prevent scratching.

We recommend keeping your jewellery in its Serena Fox box or a soft fabric pouch in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive humidity.

Avoid storing multiple pieces together where chains and gemstones may rub against one another.

Travelling with Jewellery

When travelling, carry your jewellery in individual soft pouches or a jewellery case designed to keep pieces separated.

Avoid placing loose jewellery in handbags or luggage where it may become scratched or damaged.

Professional Servicing

Even with careful wear, jewellery benefits from occasional professional inspection.

We recommend having your jewellery checked every 12–24 months to ensure gemstone settings remain secure and clasps continue to function correctly.

Professional cleaning can also restore your jewellery's original brilliance.
